AQMD Annual "Mow Down" PDF Print E-mail

Need a new lawn mower?  The South Coast Air Quality Management District's annual Lawn Mower Exchange program kicks off April 22 with pre-registration beginning at   8 am.  Los Angeles County residents can register by phone or online to claim a spot at one of 6 upcoming exchange events in May and June.  To pre-register starting April 22nd, visit www.AQMD.gov  or call toll-free at 1 (888) 425-6247.  Once registered, participants can exchange a working gas-powered lawn mower for  a deep discount on a new high performance, cordless electric mower with six models to choose from starting at only $100. Pre-registration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

CONSTRUCTION ALERT

COVINA METROLINK STATION PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS

The City of Covina is currently in construction on pedestrian safety improvements at the Covina Metrolink Station and on Citrus Avenue and Front Street.  The purpose of this project is to limit unsafe pedestrian behavior and limit pedestrian / vehicle interactions.  The Metrolink station parking lot is closed from April 23, 2015 through the end of June 2015 for upgrades.  The Metrolink parking structure remains open and both station platforms remain open and operational.  Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve our infrastructure.  For project plans, please click HERE.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF CIENEGA AND GLENDORA

Construction is in process on the installation of a traffic signal, ADA accessability upgrades and bike lane upgrades at the intersection of Cienega and Glendora.  This project is scheduled for completion in June 2015.

Please be informed that traffic may be congested in the affected areas and plan alternate routes.

Pedestrian and Metrolink Station Improvements Project
Project No. T-0814B, Federal Project No. HPLUL-5118 (016) 

The City of Covina recently awarded the contract for the Metrolink Station Improvements Project to Hillcrest Contracting, Inc. The work will begin late February, 2015 and is expected to be completed by July 6, 2015. All work schedules are contingent upon weather conditions, and there could be delays as a result.

To minimize inconvenience and maximize your safety, parking will be prohibited in some areas during construction. Notices for parking restrictions will be posted 48 hours in advance. Expect some inconvenience during the times of construction in your area. Driveways and pedestrian paths of travel will be accessible or detour directions provided.
The contractor will do everything they can to control the job site during construction for the safety of pedestrians, drivers and Metrolink train commuters as this is a heavily trafficked area.
