The Covina Police Department has three officers assigned as School Resource Officers and are assigned to the three school districts; the Charter Oak, Covina Valley and Azusa Unified School Districts, found in the city. Officers are assigned to Gladstone High School, Charter Oak High School, and one divides their time between Covina and Northview High Schools. During the school year, they spend their entire work day assigned to their campuses and working closely with school officials providing assistance with campus safety, information on the judicial process, taking enforcment action and working with students. Additionally, these officers respond as needed to problems at the middle schools within the district they are assigned. During summer months and other school vacation periods, these officers are re-assigned to patrol.
