AQMD Annual "Mow Down" PDF Print E-mail

Need a new lawn mower?  The South Coast Air Quality Management District's annual Lawn Mower Exchange program kicks off April 16 with pre-registration beginning at 8 am.  Los Angeles County residents can register by phone or online to claim a spot at one of 4 upcoming exchange events in May and June.  To pre-register starting April 16th, visit www.AQMD.gov  or call toll-free at 1 (888) 425-6247.  Once registered, participants can exchange a working gas-powered lawn mower for  a deep discount on a new high performance, cordless electric mower with five models to choose from starting at only $100. Pre-registration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The City of Covina is happy to announce the construction of a new park!

Project Funding Source

The California State Parks’ Office of Grants and Local Services awarded the Parks & Recreation Department with $2,125,750 for the Cougar Park Project application that was submitted in July 2011.  This was Round Two of the Statewide Park Program and was intensely competitive with 64 projects selected from more than 400 applications submitted.

Cougar Park project site is off of Citrus Avenue and Puente Street next to Covina-Valley Unified School District Field.  The park amenities will include a small community center, children’s playground, splash pad and water spray feature, community garden, historical mural, benches, picnic area, and parking lot.

Project Timeline

2015 WALL OF HONOR – NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATION

On April 5, 2005, the Covina City Council adopted a Community Recognition policy. This policy governs various forms of recognizing individuals and organizations, including the process to include names on the Covina Wall of Honor, which was dedicated in 2005 and is located at Covina Park. The Wall of Honor is a permanent honor, consisting of a marker describing the honoree's accomplishments written on a plaque that is mounted to the wall. To nominate an individual, please complete form below.

Nominations accepted until 5:45 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Parks & Recreation Department Office, 1250 N. Hollenbeck Ave, Covina.

State Approves Emergency Water Conservation Regulations PDF Print E-mail

On Tuesday, July 15th, the State Water Resources Control Board approved mandatory statewide regulations to increase water conservation.  The City of Covina Water Utility is reviewing these new regulations to make recommendations to the City Council to meet the new state mandates by August 2014.

There are ongoing local water conservation requirements in place due to the declared Level 1 water supply shortage.  Please view the document below to familiarize yourself with the water conservation requirements.
