DoonanLt. Tim Doonan is a 23 year veteran of the Covina Police Department.  He has worked a variety of assignments, including patrol and bicycle patrol, he has been a field training officer, and served in four different detective assignments before promoting to sergeant.  As a sergeant, Tim worked patrol, supervised the FTO program and the detective bureau, and was a team leader on the SWAT team.  In July, 2006, Tim promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned back to patrol.  Along with his patrol assignment, he took over command of the SWAT team.  In January, 2008, Tim was reassigned to the detective bureau and supervised that unit for two years. He is currently a patrol division watch commander.  

Tim received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University and went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Emergency Services Administration from California State University, Long Beach.  He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
