Since the first indication that a powerful El Niño was set to develop, there has been significant speculation about what impact it would have on California.  Occurring every two to five years, El Niño's most significant effects on California occur during the wintertime.  Confidence continues to grow that this El Niño will bring one of the strongest winter storm seasons over the past 50 years.

Expected to mimic a similar pattern as the winter of 1997-1998, this year's El Niño could mean big impacts to California.  The most likely, and most impactful, scenario during this winter is that the San Gabriel Valley, like other communities will get significant rain.  READ MORE

Level 2 Water Restrictions PDF Print E-mail

Water Restrictions

Please be advised that the City of Covina has declared a Level 2 Water Supply Shortage and has implemented additional mandatory water conservation measures effective July 31, 2015 for City of Covina water customers.

Restrictions include the following:

  • Effective November 1, watering or irrigating of lawn, landscape, or other vegetated areas with potable water is limited to Wednesdays during the winter months of November through March.
  • Watering of outdoor landscapes is prohibited during and within 48 hours of rainfall.
  • Watering or irrigating of lawn, landscape or other vegetated area with potable water is prohibited everyday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Watering or irrigating of lawn, landscape, or other vegetated areas with potable water is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes per station per day.
  • No runoff is allowed from irrigation.
  • Washing down hard or paved surfaces, including but not limited to sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking areas, tennis courts, patios or alleys, is prohibited.
  • All leaks, breaks, and other malfunctions in the water user’s plumbing or distribution system must be repaired within forty-eight (48) hours of notification by the City.
